Product Description
Crimp-Compatible PEX Coupling for Residential and Commercial Plumbing
Product Overview
This 1/2 inch PEX coupling (Pack of 25) connects two lengths of 1/2" PEX tubing in water supply and hydronic heating systems. The 304 stainless steel construction provides a durable, mechanical joint for areas with poor water quality. Plumbers and contractors rely on these PEX tubing connectors for reliable system integration.
Compatible with PEX-A, PEX-B, and PEX-C tubing using ASTM F1807 crimp or ASTM F2098 clamp methods only. Not compatible with ASTM F1960 cold expansion systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 1/2 inch stainless steel PEX straight coupling used for?
This fitting connects two separate lengths of 1/2 inch PEX tubing in a straight run, creating a secure mechanical joint for potable water or hydronic heating systems.
What is the difference between the crimp and clamp installation methods?
The crimp method (ASTM F1807) uses a copper ring compressed fully around the tubing with a crimp tool. The clamp method (ASTM F2098) uses a stainless steel clamp with a side ear that is pinched closed using a clamp tool. Both methods create a secure mechanical seal when installed properly.
Can this coupling be used with PEX-A pipe?
Yes. This coupling is compatible with PEX-A tubing when installed using the ASTM F1807 crimp or ASTM F2098 clamp method. It is not compatible with ASTM F1960 cold expansion systems.
Are these fittings compatible with cold expansion tools?
No. These fittings are designed strictly for crimp or clamp installations and cannot be used with cold expansion tools or ASTM F1960 expansion systems.
What is the temperature rating for this stainless steel PEX coupling?
The 304 stainless steel material can withstand temperatures up to 400°F (204°C). However, actual system operating temperatures are limited by the PEX tubing, which is typically rated between 180°F and 200°F.
Are these fittings safe for drinking water applications?
Yes. These fittings are certified to NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372 standards and are verified as lead-free for potable water systems.
Why choose stainless steel instead of brass for PEX connections?
304 stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance and does not suffer from dezincification. This makes it well suited for environments with poor water quality or high-acidity conditions where brass fittings may degrade over time.
