Rare vintage Singer sewing machine finger guard. This swing away guard is compatible with vintage low shank machines such as the Singer model 15, 66, 99, 127, 128, 185, 192, 201 and the 221 / 222K Featherweight. This accessory was not available to the general public, it was only available to dealers and school educators which makes it a very hard to find piece! Genuine Simanco accessory, part #22838.
It mounts to the presser bar and is very easy to install:
1. Remove the presser foot and thumb screw. If your machine has a presser bar mounted thread cutter, you will need to remove it as well.
2. Slide the finger guard collar onto the presser bar. Slide the guard up the presser bar then remount the presser foot and thumb screw.
3. With the presser foot down, adjust the height of the finger guard so that there is minimum clearance between the guard and presser foot when swinging the guard out (swings to the left side).
4. Once the height is adjusted and the guard is sitting parallel with the side of the presser foot, tighten the little set screw on the right side of the collar using the provided hex key.
